Design Diary: And so it begins

As many of you may know I am currently studying Interior Design in school and am very passionate about the field. Design affects the safety and quality of life for individuals and corporations. It intricately weaves function and beauty into a space while promoting health and aesthetic appeal for the user.  As part of my degree, I have the opportunity to participate in a short term internship with a local design firm to gain hands-on experience and expertise from professional certified designers. Through out this journey, I will be blogging my daily findings, experiences, frustrations, and excitements in order to have a better grasp on the daily life of an interior designer.

I am excited to announce that I will be interning for Sechrest design firm in Tallahassee Florida for the duration of June. http://www.sechrestdesign.com/index.php . They specialize in both residential and commercial design and as an intern I will be keeping up with the resource library, researching, organizing client files, observing the design process, and specifying product/ creating concepts as needed. Today I met with Amy (one of the main designers and my overseer), took a quick tour of their offices, and discussed projects that I will be helping with shortly. I am beyond excited for this opportunity and pray that God will help me grow in my knowledge and experience, and guide me to bless others through this process.
