Meet my Team & the Countdown begins
It has been quite a while since my last mission update and many things have transpired in my mission training and preparation. I am super excited and would like to share details about our project to provide the opportunity to pray specifically for our efforts.
Meet the team: Sean is a freshman honors mechanical engineering student and Rett is an freshman honors bible major, both fellow students of mine at Oklahoma Christian. We have been prayerfully training together all semester in leadership, conflict resolution, logistical planing, and how to best minister to our readers and the local church.
My team and I will be traveling to Kiev Ukraine for 6 weeks (Rett for the first 3) and will be working under the leadership of a host missionary and along side the congregation at Vinograder. We fly out on May 2nd and Sean I arrive back on June 13th, Lord willing. Our main objective is to connect the community to the local church by offering free conversational English sessions. We are not there to solely teach English or to teach the bible in the most general sense, but rather to connect and share with individuals through reading the book of Luke and hopefully provide a positive contact with Christian company. During our stay we will hold an information meeting, recruit readers, have continued daily reading sessions, and plan social gatherings for our readers to meet one another and the local congregation in a relaxed setting.
Training is almost finished, tickets have been booked, preparations are well under way and our trip date is quickly approaching. We leave in 23 days! With all that being said, please continue to support my team through prayer. Pray for safe travels and ease of transition. Pray for growth and wisdom for my team, that we may work well together, encouraging each other and putting the needs of others before ourselves as we strive to be illustrations of the gospel message. Please pray for soft hearts and open minds for our readers, whoever they may be, that seeds will be planted and a connection to the church will form. Pray that we, as messengers of God, can have positive influence and speak from the spirit. Pray for culture shock, jet lag, and all the fun things that come with travel. Most of all, pray that God may be glorified in everything we do.
On another note, I am still $900 dollars short of my total fundraising goal and would appreciate monetary support to help me meet that goal. I have been truly humbled by the generous attitudes of all you who have supported this trip financially and thank God every day for the blessing you are to me and to the people you will be serving through these funds.
May God be Glorified,
K.L.E
